Voice Ledger
Privacy Policy
Effective August 28, 2026 (v1.0)
Privacy first: Voice Ledger has no account, advertising, Studio AM analytics, tracking, telemetry, or cloud-sync service. Your recordings and transcripts are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to Studio AM. Network use is limited to Apple's StoreKit and speech assets, plus an optional on-device AI model download from Hugging Face that begins only when you request it, as described below.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Personal information
Studio AM collects no personal information through Voice Ledger. The app requires no account, email address, or Studio AM identifier.
1.2 Your recordings and transcripts
Audio you record, files you import, transcripts, your edits, speaker names, markers, titles and tags are stored locally on your device. Voice Ledger does not use CloudKit or a Studio AM server to sync any of it. Recordings are never uploaded, and no part of a transcript is sent anywhere for processing.
1.3 Analytics and advertising
Voice Ledger contains no third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, tracking, or Studio AM telemetry. Studio AM does not receive app usage data. Hugging Face may process limited provider metadata when you request an optional model download, as detailed in section 5.
2. Microphone
The app records only while you have started a recording, and iOS shows its own recording indicator throughout. Audio is written directly to the app's own storage on your device. Microphone access is used for nothing else.
3. Transcription happens on your device
Speech is turned into text by Apple's on-device speech recognition, running locally on your iPhone, iPad or Mac after the required recognition-language asset is installed. Neither the audio nor the resulting text leaves the device to be transcribed. Apple may use a connection to supply a missing speech asset; after setup, transcription runs offline.
4. Files you import
When you import an audio file, a video file or a transcript file, it is read from the location you choose and stored in the app's own space. Imported originals are preserved so you can export them again unchanged. The app never downloads, scrapes or extracts content from YouTube or any other online service; it works only with files you already have, or text you paste in yourself.
5. Network use
Apple's StoreKit contacts Apple to load subscription plans, process a purchase and restore access. Apple also supplies speech-recognition assets when a required language is not already installed. Apple handles payment and trial eligibility; Studio AM does not receive your name, email address or payment details.
Optional on-device AI features can download a fixed Gemma or LFM model directly from Hugging Face. The transfer starts only after you choose to download a model. Its request contains no recording, audio, transcript, question, summary or other saved app content. Hugging Face may record and retain approximate location derived from your IP address, device diagnostics and the model-download interaction for app functionality, analytics and other purposes. These categories are declared as linked to the user and not used for tracking. Studio AM receives none of that provider data, analytics or tracking. See the Hugging Face Privacy Policy.
6. Your data and access after a subscription ends
Everything you have already recorded or imported remains readable, playable, searchable and exportable without an active subscription. Ending a subscription or losing network access never deletes or locks your own recordings. Export produces the audio file, the transcript as text or as SRT/VTT with timings, and a lossless JSON copy of everything. Settings offers a delete-everything option, which removes local data and does not affect your Apple subscription.
7. Children's privacy
Voice Ledger is designed for adults and older students recording their own lectures, meetings and interviews. It is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
8. Recording responsibly
Laws about recording other people differ by country and by state, and some settings require the consent of everyone present. You are responsible for having permission to record. The app does not record anything without you starting it.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships.
