Privacy Policy

The short version: Studio AM runs this site. There are no visitor accounts. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. The blog carries Google ads, and Google may use cookies there. If you join our email list, Buttondown keeps your address. Studio AM does not sell visitor data.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers studioam.art: the home page, the work and app pages, the blog, books, the gallery, the About and AI pages, and the Mac downloads page.

Each app has its own privacy policy at /apps/<app>/privacy/. You can find it from the app's page in our work and from its App Store listing.

Our guides, library, and tools moved to teamam.org, which has its own privacy policy.

2. What we collect

This site has no accounts, no sign-in, and no contact form. Studio AM does not build a profile of your activity. We receive personal data in only two ways:

  • your email address, if you join our email list (section 5);
  • your email and what you write, if you email us (section 6).

Cloudflare and Google also process some data when you visit, as sections 3, 4, and 8 explain.

3. Visit statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how fast pages load. Cloudflare adds a small script to each page for this. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies or local storage for these statistics and does not fingerprint visitors. We see totals, not individual visitors. 4. Advertising on the blog

The blog index and blog posts use Google AdSense. No other page on studioam.art loads the advertising code. That includes the home page, work and app pages, app support and privacy pages, books, the gallery, About, AI, Mac downloads, and these legal pages.

When a blog page loads, Google may receive information needed to deliver, secure, and measure ads. This can include your IP address, browser and device information, the page you are viewing, and advertising cookies or similar identifiers. Depending on your location and your choice, Google may show either:

  • Contextual or non-personalized ads based mainly on the page, broad location, and limited request information.
  • Personalized ads based on more signals, such as earlier activity, when the law and your consent allow it.

What this means in practice:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or other sites.
  • Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Where consent choices are required, a Google-certified consent message lets you accept, reject, or manage advertising uses. Declining personalized advertising does not remove every ad. You may still see contextual or non-personalized ads, and some processing may still be needed for ad delivery, fraud prevention, security, and measurement.

Google explains this in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Some privacy laws call personalized advertising "sharing" or "targeted advertising", even though Studio AM does not sell visitor data.

5. Our email list

You can sign up for email updates on the home page, on the blog, and on the pages of apps that have not launched yet. The form sends your email address to Buttondown, the service that runs our list, with a short note of where you signed up (for example, the home page or the app you are waiting for).

The list uses double opt-in. Buttondown emails you a confirmation link, and you are added only after you confirm. We do not use open or click tracking. You can unsubscribe at any time, or email us and we will remove you. See Buttondown's privacy policy for how it handles your address.

6. Email you send us

If you write to [email protected], for example about an app, a book, or a gallery piece, we use your address and message to reply. We do not add you to the email list unless you sign up yourself.

7. Cookies and local storage

Studio AM sets no cookies of its own. Your browser may store:

  • Your theme choice. If you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage so it remembers it. It never leaves your device.
  • Advertising and consent data. On blog pages, Google and its consent service may use cookies or similar storage to remember your privacy choices, deliver ads, limit repeats, prevent fraud, and measure performance. The exact use depends on your region and your choices.

8. Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, and the Mac downloads on dl.studioam.art are stored with Cloudflare too. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data, such as IP address and browser type, to serve pages and protect against abuse. We do not use this data for marketing. Our fonts are served from this site, so reading a page does not send a request to a font service.

We link to other sites, such as the Apple App Store, Amazon, and teamam.org. When you follow those links, that site's own privacy policy and cookies apply. We do not control their practices and are not responsible for them.

10. Children

The website is not directed at children. Studio AM does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information through this site, contact us and we will look into it.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. Material changes will appear here before they take effect.
