Privacy Policy

Privacy first: Hone Focus has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or cloud-sync service. Your Focus, Memory, and Reasoning records stay locally on your device in separate stores. The app connects to Apple for purchases and to Studio AM's public GitHub Pages site for static content packs, as described below. No practice record, answer, score, lesson progress, or app identifier is sent with a content-pack request.

Version note: This policy describes the consolidated version 1.1 update. Until that update is available, the App Store may still serve the Focus-only version 1.0. Version 1.0 stores only Focus records and does not fetch the static content packs described below; the remaining privacy commitments on this page are unchanged.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Personal information

Studio AM collects no personal information through Hone Focus. The app requires no account, email address, or Studio AM identifier.

1.2 Practice record and measurements

Session results, adaptive levels, streaks, lesson progress, and exercise observations are stored locally on your device. Focus, Memory, and Reasoning use separately namespaced records so results from unlike exercises are not blended into one score. Hone Focus does not use CloudKit or a Studio AM data server to sync this record. iOS may include app data in an iCloud device backup according to your device settings and Apple's policies.

Settings can export Focus data as JSON and readable text, plus separate lossless JSON exports for Memory and Reasoning. The Memory export includes saved spaced-retrieval cards and their immutable prompt-and-answer snapshots. Settings can also erase all three domains. Export and erase do not require a subscription. An export leaves the app only when you choose a destination in Apple's system share sheet.

1.3 Analytics and advertising

Hone Focus contains no third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, tracking, or Studio AM telemetry. We do not receive usage data from the app.

2. Not a medical or diagnostic product

Hone Focus provides exercises and lessons for Focus, Memory, and Reasoning. It is not an IQ test, a measure of general cognitive ability, a medical assessment, or a diagnosis. Results describe only the exercises completed in the app and are not clinical results.

3. Content and network use

Hone Focus 1.1 may fetch static JSON lesson and exercise packs over HTTPS from studioamart.github.io/hone-focus-data. These requests do not include a practice record, answer, score, lesson progress, or app identifier. As with an ordinary web request, delivery metadata such as an IP address and user agent reaches the hosting provider. Studio AM does not use these requests for in-app tracking or receive your practice record.

Before activating a downloaded release, the app checks its source, size, SHA-256 digest, and content. It keeps a verified cached release and a bundled fallback, so installed practice and lessons remain available offline if a refresh fails or the network is unavailable.

Apple's StoreKit contacts Apple to load subscription plans, process a purchase, verify access, and restore purchases. Apple handles payment; Studio AM does not receive your name, email address, or payment details.

4. Notifications

Reminders are off by default and use local notifications only. If you enable them, the app asks for the system notification permission and schedules one daily practice reminder at the time you choose, all on-device. Reminders are scheduled only while verified access is active and are removed when it ends.

5. Your data and access after a subscription ends

Existing Focus, Memory, and Reasoning history and saved Recall Schedule cards remain readable without active Pro access, and export and erase keep working. Repeatable Focus and Reasoning samples also remain available, but do not save progress. Starting a new recall queue, progress-recording practice, and the full lesson libraries require Pro. Losing network access or ending a subscription never deletes or locks your saved record. Deleting the app removes its local record, subject to any device backup managed by iOS.

6. Ratings prompt

The app may occasionally show Apple's standard in-app review prompt at natural milestones. Apple operates this prompt; the app sends no data with it.

7. Children's privacy

Hone Focus is designed for adults interested in structured practice. It is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships.
