Answers about Focus, Memory, and Reasoning practice, subscriptions, and your data.
What is Hone Focus?
Version 1.1 organizes practice into three domains: Focus, Memory, and Reasoning. Focus contains 14 generated attention tasks and a five-round Daily Scan. Memory contains 12 generated recall formats, a private spaced-retrieval schedule, and timed or unlimited study of a shuffled 52-card deck. Reasoning contains nine adaptive exercise families with worked explanations. Each domain keeps its own levels and history. Until 1.1 is released, the App Store may still serve the Focus-only version 1.0.
What does the app measure?
Hone Focus reports results from the exercises you complete, such as reaction time, accuracy, recall, interference, and switching observations where relevant. It does not combine unlike tasks into an IQ score or a general cognitive score, and it does not claim that an in-app result measures ability outside the app.
Is this an ADHD test or screening tool?
No. Hone Focus is not an IQ test, medical assessment, diagnosis, or screening tool. Nothing in the app should be read that way. If you have concerns about attention, memory, or cognition in daily life, consult a qualified professional.
How much does it cost? Is there a free tier?
In version 1.1, Hone Focus Pro is offered in the US for $7.99 per month with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, or $39.99 per year with no introductory offer. Until 1.1 is released, version 1.0 may display its earlier offer. The installed purchase screen shows the authoritative local price, renewal period, and introductory-offer eligibility before purchase. A historical weekly product is not offered, but remains restorable if a receipt ever contains it.
What can I access without a subscription?
You can browse the domain catalogs, read your saved history and saved Recall Schedule cards, and export or erase your records without active Pro access. Repeatable Focus and Reasoning samples are also available and do not save progress. Starting a new recall queue, progress-recording practice, and opening the full lesson libraries require Pro.
What do the lessons show me?
The app includes 26 concise Focus lessons, 73 Memory lessons, and 86 Reasoning lessons covering recall, association, chunking, sequencing, deduction, patterns, argument analysis, and related techniques. Lessons explain the method before practice without presenting a medical or general-intelligence assessment.
How does difficulty work?
Exercises adapt separately, and Focus, Memory, and Reasoning keep separate levels and histories. Depending on the exercise, progression can change sequence length, timing, distractors, complexity, or the number of items. Results from unlike exercises are not blended into one cognitive score.
Why did my round restart when I switched apps?
These are timed tasks, and time spent away is time the stimuli would have played to nobody. There is no honest way to score half a run. When the app leaves the foreground mid-round, the round is voided and parked, nothing from the interrupted run is scored, and it says so on screen. Start the round again when you are back.
Does Hone Focus need the internet?
Version 1.1 uses a connection for Apple’s StoreKit and to fetch static JSON lesson and exercise packs from studioamart.github.io/hone-focus-data. The app verifies a pack before activation and keeps a verified cached release plus a bundled fallback, so installed practice and lessons remain available offline. A pack request sends no practice record, answer, score, lesson progress, or app identifier; ordinary delivery metadata such as an IP address and user agent reaches the hosting provider. Version 1.0 does not fetch these packs.
Does the app collect or sync my data?
Studio AM collects no practice data. There is no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or CloudKit sync. Focus, Memory, and Reasoning records are separately namespaced and stored locally; iOS may include app data in an iCloud device backup. Settings exports Focus JSON and readable text plus separate lossless Memory and Reasoning JSON, including saved spaced-retrieval cards, or erases all three domains.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. If Apple verifies a current monthly or yearly subscription, or a receipt for the historical, unoffered weekly product, Pro access returns without buying again. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID settings.
